JOB SUMMARY:    This position is responsible for all North American advanced transaction tax compliance workpapers, tax and regulatory returns and reports) to ensure the utmost accuracy and timeliness.  This includes detailed and referenced workpapers.  This position also assists in the tax and regulatory general ledger account maintenance and reconciliation.  The Senior Tax Analyst will participate in the detailed work, review and research involved with tax and regulatory audits.  This individual must be detail oriented, extremely organized, have good written and verbal communication skills and work to continually improve the efficiency and accuracy of ACN’s transaction tax reporting.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: 

MAJOR TASKS

•         Prepare the more complex work papers, spreadsheets, returns and/or reports for state, provincial and local transaction taxes and regulatory based fees.  This includes taxes and fees for sales, use, VAT, property, excise and telecommunications related liabilities to ensure the utmost accuracy, completeness and timeliness

•         Ensure timely compliance, tracking and response to all federal, state, provincial and local business licenses, transaction tax and regulatory notices

•         Participate in transaction tax and telecommunication regulatory audits

•         Review and reconcile all related general ledger tax accounts, including tax expense, accruals, billing, collections and payments

•         Review of weekly tax forecasts requested by the Treasury Department

•         Responsible for the calculation of quarterly forecasts for all transaction related GL accounts as needed

•         Review of monthly journal entries in PeopleSoft

•         Monitor all transaction tax or telecommunication regulatory law or jurisdictional changes and communicate these to the Transaction Tax Manager for proper consideration

•         Identify and develop process improvements

•         Effectively communicate all tax issues and opportunities to the Transaction Tax Manager.

•         Manage the gathering and maintenance of exemption certificates

•         Work on multiple and varied tax projects simultaneously

•         Assist with income tax issues, compliance and reporting when necessary

•         Conduct moderate to advanced tax research relating to tax law or regulatory issues to maintain ACN’s accurate compliance and minimize state and local tax exposure

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:   

•         BA/BS in Accounting preferred

•         4-7 years of transaction tax experience including specific experience in compliance and audit defense

•         Telecommunications industry experience preferred

•         Proficient in MS Office

•         Expert with Excel (v-lookups, pivot tables, etc.)

•         Proficient with tax research web based platforms (e.g. CCH, RIA, TTR)

•         PeopleSoft experience preferred

•         Experience with property and various other state and local taxes

•         Experience with tax account reconciliations
