Job Description

JOB SUMMARY: The Deskside Support Specialist is part of the IT Infrastructure team that provides in-house technical PC hardware and software support. He or she will respond to user Incident and Request tickets. He or she will need to troubleshoot both over the phone and by visiting end-users at their desks to determine the nature of problems, and to take the necessary steps to resolve.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Responding to end-user service requests to troubleshoot the nature of reported incidents and taking necessary steps to resolve those issues
• Building and configuring PCs and laptops as well as installing software, and conducting audits for unlicensed software.
• Running infrastructure cabling between workstations and communication closets


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
• Extensive knowledge working with Windows 10 operating system (Installing, maintaining, and diagnosing issues)
• Knowledge of Mac operating systems, hardware and applications is strongly desired
• Knowledge of Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware systems
• Experience with software deployment tools
• Experience in basic administration of ActiveDirectory objects (users, groups, etc)
• Experience with supporting Executive level end users
• Strong written skills for documentation and reporting
• Strong verbal skills to explain both technical and lay issues to peers and user community
• Good listening skills
• Ability to defuse situations and perceived as approachable
• Adaptable to changing environment and workload; Flexible and efficient, able to multitask
• Motivated, organized and professional
• Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
• Work well under pressure/deadlines
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
• The employee is regularly required to talk and hear
• The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• 2 year IT degree or equivalent experience
• Desire to take advantage of training and learning opportunities
• Independent, self-starting attitude
• Hands on experience with PC support in a business environment, a plus
